August 16 was my first day back to school. Let me tell you.. it’s been CRAZY since then. One week of optional work days {which I go to}, half a week of required workdays, my son’s birthday and 6th grade orientation, a birthday party on the weekend, and going to school on the weekend to get everything ready for day one.
I don’t know .. maybe it’s just me, but is anyone ever fully prepared for the first day of school? Parents, teachers, kids?
Well, on top of the 2017-2018 school year starting, I have also {somewhat} begun training for my 5th half marathon, and the last 7 weeks I have had personal training sessions 2x per week.

If you are a local to the Outer Banks and looking for a personal trainer, Todd Parks is your guy. 100%.
Anyways, we’ve had 6th grade orientation. Pre-K orientation. Home visits. First day of school for me. First day of school for Daniel {my 4 year old}. A running schedule {that I haven’t been keeping up with}. A work out schedule. A website {that I haven’t been keeping up with}. Mike is slammed at work. He gets home and is right back to work because it’s his busy time of the year. I think the end of August though mid September is just always going to be flat out crazy busy.
Now that the days are getting somewhat less crazy, I feel like I am starting to be able to breathe again. Next week is our first full week of school. Autopilot mode should start to kick in soon – then it’s smooth sailing {or should be} until the end of May. Then the school year will get busy again.
Now that I feel less overwhelmed, I will start posting recipes again and giving the website a redesign. Here’s to a new year! Let’s rock it!
