Good Dee’s Mixes

W hen I first started Keto, it didn’t occur to me that I would no longer be able to indulge in my favorite desserts. Sure, no sugar, no carbs – I understood that – but I really didn’t think about it until I wanted a brownie. We don’t do dessert that often, which is probably why it took me a month or two to become aware of this dilemma.

A brownie {HAS to be a corner piece} topped with ice cream, hot fudge and nuts is one of my ALL time favorite desserts. Just imagine my disappointment when I went to the store to buy a brownie mix … I looked at all of the gluten free and sugar free options..they are LOADED with carbohydrates! One measly serving was still at least 20 carbs. I couldn’t sacrifice a whole day for just one brownie. And a brownie without nuts.. Or hot fudge.. Or ice cream.

So – this got me thinking. There have to be Keto friendly desserts. Not everyone has a sweet tooth, but the people who do, need a way to satisfy their cravings without cheating on their diet. When I got home, I googled Keto desserts, and it didn’t take me long to find more than enough recipes for any dessert you could ever want. And I found a recipe for brownies. I went back to the store to get all of the ingredients and I made those brownies. They were good – but they weren’t exactly what I wanted. My search had to continue.

I stumbled upon Good Dee’s on Instagram. Someone posted a Keto brownie topped with ice cream. Hallelujah – that post looks amazing. I clicked on profile for Good Dee’s and followed the link to their website and was thrilled to see that these ingredients are indeed Keto friendly. AND, not only do they have brownies, but they have mixes for chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, and blondies! And my mouth was beginning to water. Each mix costs $12. At first glance, I thought that was expensive for a single dessert mix, but I went ahead and ordered – why not.

OH BOY. When those brownies arrived I immediately started baking. Simple enough – add 1 egg and ¼ cup of melted butter. Viola! Easy peasy.

11-13 minutes later.. Those brownies were cooling and just waiting to be enjoyed by my family. In the meantime, I made some whip cream {in place of ice cream.. I still haven’t found a recipe that I love}. The whip cream topped brownies were delicious. And the batch didn’t take long to disappear. Each brownie has a NET of 1 gram of carbohydrates. Not too shabby. And I could have two of them, guilt free!

The chocolate chip cookies are just as good. This is what we did when we tried the chocolate chip cookies.

I still haven’t tried the snickerdoodle or blondie mixes, but it is on my list of things to do.
